The Comedian Harmonists were a twentieth-century male close-harmony quintet plus pianist. They formed in Berlin in 1927 as the Melody Makers. The Comedian Harmonists performed internationally. The group split in two in 1934, when the three Jewish members were denied membership in the Reichsmusikkammer; membership was required to perform music in Germany.
