State university (part of the Tennessee Board of Regents system) located in Johnson City, Tennessee. ETSU was founded in 1911 as East Tennessee State Normal School, and was also known as East Tennessee State Teachers College and East Tennessee State College before officially becoming a university in 1963. Currently, ETSU contains six major colleges (Arts & Sciences, Business & Technology, Education, Medicine, Nursing, and Public & Allied Health), with two more in the works. In 2007, the College of Pharmacy will start with the first class of students, and the Public & Allied Health will be split into two separate colleges (College of Public Health and College of Health Related Professions). There are also separate schools for Graduate Studies and Continuing Studies, and an Honors College.
