Walter Camp (1859-1925) was a football coach and innovator. As a student at Yale, he played in the first Yale-Harvard game of rugby in 1876. From that point, he brought about the evolution of the American style of football. He established scrimmage line, center snap, downs, 11 players per side and elected the first All-America team in 1889. He was Yale's first football coach.
