Organized to perpetuate Scottish traditions and culture, and open open to all persons of the age of eighteen or over who descends from a Scottish ancestor. The name of the society derives from St. Andrew, the brother of St. Peter is the Patron Saint of Scotland, and according to Scottish legend, the bones of the disciple were being taken to Scotland in the 4th century by St. Regulus when the ship was wrecked on the shore near the present town of St. Andrew's. Thus, through tradition, St. Andrew became the Patron Saint of Scotland.
