The meaning of a drumline, depends on the individual group, but most include all the round hoops with stretched animal skins tightened over them that are beaten with something; also includes the gong, bell, triangle, and cymbals.
Small bands can exist with 4 or 5 people, while some High School, and College Marching Bands have had up to 40 or 50 pcs in their activity. When they combine the pit percussion into it and create a percussion ensemble that may include; 8 snares, 9 bass, 4 quads, 5 tenors, 8 cymbals, 3 marimbas, 2 xylopones, 1 glockenspiel, 1 tamborine, 1 super bass drum, a brake drum or two, and several other instruments.
