This category houses both professional and fan pages devoted the 1950's husband and wife dance team, Marge and Gower Champion. Marge Champion - singer, dancer, actress and choreographer. Born Marjorie Celeste Belcher in Los Angeles, California on September 2nd, 1923. Worked as a movement model for the character Snow White in the 1937 Disney animated classic "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves", and made her live action screen debut in the 1938 movie "Sorority House". Worked as a choreographer on the 1975 movie "Day of the Locust", and the television show "Queen of the Stardust Ballroom", which earned her a 1975 Emmy award for "Outstanding Achievement in Choreography". Gower Champion - singer, dancer, actor and choreographer. Born in Geneva, Illinois on June 22nd, 1921. Early career dominated by stage work, performing with high school dance partner Jeanne Tyler at the Waldorf-Astoria and Radio City Music Hall in New York. Directed the 1974 movie "Bank Shot". Died August 25th, 1980. Marge and Gower Champion - married October 5th, 1947. Made regular appearances on the "Admiral Broadway Review", and starred in such movies as "Show Boat" (1951), "Lovely to Look at" (1952) and "Jupiter's Darling" (1955). Joint recipients of the 2002 American Choreography Award. Divorced 1973.
