Eileen Atkins - one of England's most renowned stage actresses, born 16 June 1934, Clapton, London, England. She was appointed a CBE in 1990 and a DBE in June, 2001. As well as appearing occasionally on film and television, she has made numerous contributions to both mediums as a scriptwriter, most notably for the acclaimed series 'Upstairs Downstairs' and 'House of Elliot'. Films include 'The Hours'(2002), 'Gosford Park' (2001), and 'Let Him have It' (1991). TV work includes 'Cold Comfort Farm' (1995) and 'Sons and Lovers' (1981) as Gertrude Morel.
