This category lists pages and sites about the Cuban Missile Crisis. The crisis developed in October 1962 when U.S. intelligence forces discovered the USSR was constructing nuclear missile bases in Cuba that were capable of attacking the United States.

President John Kennedy called for the prompt dismantling and removal of any offensive weapons in Cuba. After days of tense negotiations, Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev agreed to dismantle the sites and remove all weapons if the United States would promise not to invade Cuba.
