The St. Helena A.V.A. is located in the northern part of the Napa Valley A.V.A.. It is bordered on the south by the Rutherford A.V.A. and on the west by the Spring Mountain District A.V.A. The St. Helena A.V.A. borders are not the same as those of the town of Saint Helena, although there is considerable overlap. For example, wineries in the town of Saint Helena may actually be located in the Spring Mountain District A.V.A. or in the Howell Mountain A.V.A.
