Tucson is a truly bi-cultural city, located only 63 miles north of the Mexican border. It is surrounded by mountain ranges, and its mild winter temperatures attract many seasonal visitors, referred to by the locals as "snow birds". It is Arizona's oldest city, and its nickname is the "Old Pueblo", as the town began as a Spanish presidio. It has grown into a modern city of over 486,000 people.

The jewel of the community has to be San Xavier del Bac Mission, also referred to as the "White Dove of the Desert". Built in 1700, much of its original artwork and statues remain intact, and Catholic religious services are still conducted there regularly.
