Island View is in Koochiching County, about 11 miles east of International Falls on State Highway 11. Directly to the north is Rainy Lake and the Canadian border. On the east, Island View is bounded by Voyageurs National Park.

Island View disincorporated in 1992 and is now part of Rainy Lake (unorganized) territory.
