Cheshire County is located in the southwest corner of the state. The county seat is Keene.
The population in 2000 was 73,825. The largest towns are Keene, Swanzey, and Jaffrey.
Cheshire is bordered by Sullivan County to the north, Hillsborough County to the east, the State of Massachusetts to the south, and by the State of Vermont to the west.
