This natural rock formation is the official state symbol of New Hampshire. It is also known as the "Great Stone Face", and "The Profile".
Sadly, during the early morning hours of May 3, 2003, the ledges that formed the Old Man broke free from the cliff face on Cannon Mountain, and dropped onto the slope below.
Only stabilizing cables remained behind.
