Newcomb is known for Teddy Roosevelt's mad dash to the North Creek railroad station from Mt. Marcy, following the assassination of President McKinley in 1901. It is also where Lake Tear of the Clouds is located, the source of the Hudson River. Major industry: mining, lumber, tourism Visitors come to visit the historic iron works, the great camp Santononi and the Visitors Interpretive Center.
