Named for U.S. President John Tyler, Smith County's seat has a population of more than 83,000 and is located about halfway between Dallas and Shreveport, La. Known as the "Rose Capital," Tyler boasts the nation's largest municipal rose garden and each fall hosts the Texas Rose Festival, which celebrates the area's vibrant rose-growing industry. The city is also home to the world's first Adopt-a-Highway program.
