The wise fool Nasreddin is the central character in a cycle of comic tales and jokes that are told all over the Middle East. He is known as Nasreddin Hodja or Mullah Nasreddin in much of the Turkic and Iranian speaking world, and as Juha in the Arabic speaking world. In India, similar stories are told of the wise fools Birbal, and Tenali Raman.
