The counter-cult effort is an attempt to protect or convert people from dangerous or controlling religious organizations, unorthodox or heretical sects, new splinter religions, or other groups viewed as cults. Sites listed here approach this effort from a Christian perspective. Please note that the listing of any specific religious group in this category does not imply that the editors of the Open Directory Project are characterizing this group as a "cult." Rather, this category contains sites which take the perspective that said religious groups are cults, regardless of any editor's opinion on the groups involved.
