Actually two councils, the first in 869-70 deposing Patriarch Photios I of Constantinople and reinstated his predecessor Saint Ignatius. The second council in 879-880 restored Photius to the See of Constantinople. The first is accepted by the Roman Catholic Church and the second by the Eastern Orthodox Church.
