William Ames(1576-1633)was Anglican, then Presbyterian. He ministered in England as a Cambridge Calvinist and in Holland as pastor and professor and advisor at the Synod of Dort. He was the losest disciple of William Perkins. He greatly influenced American Puritans and wrote The Marrow of Theology, the standard Puritan systematic theology, Cases of Conscience, an important work on Biblical ethics and many other works.
